Average Number of Wizz’s EU monthly active recipients of the service

In accordance with Article 24(2) of the DSA, providers of online platforms are required to publish information on the average monthly active recipients of the service in the EU every six months starting from February 17, 2023. Among other things, this number is for the purpose of determining whether such providers are considered a very large online platform (“VLOP”) or very large online search engine (“VLOSE”), i.e. more than 45 million monthly active recipients of the service in the EU. Wizz has approximately 460K monthly active users in the EU.

This information is being provided solely for purposes of complying with Article 24(2) of DSA and the methods used for calculating the monthly active recipients of the service pursuant to Article 24(2) of the DSA do not correspond with the Company’s methods used to calculate our daily active users and the geographic breakdown regarding such users. Wizz does not otherwise publish EU user metrics. There are inherent challenges in measuring how our platform is used. These metrics are based on what we believe to be reasonable estimates of our user base for the applicable period of measurement. Our estimates may change as our methodologies and platform evolve, including through the application of new data sets or technologies or as our platform changes with new features and enhancements. As a result, our current period metrics may not be comparable to those in prior periods.

Wizz app transparency report

In accordance with Articles 15 and 24 of the DSA, Wizz publishes annual transparency reports regarding its content moderation activities and safety measures.

The transparency reports are based on evolving internal methodologies and AI-driven precision tools designed to provide an accurate, non-duplicated representation of our moderation efforts. As part of our commitment to data integrity, we may retroactively amend prior reports to implement improved mapping standards or deduplication logic. Consequently, current metrics reflect optimized enforcement and may not be directly comparable to the heuristic data of previous reporting periods.

Wizz's recommender system

User recommendations within the Wizz app are based on age, location (country or state), gender, and online status. Additionally, Wizz users can 'boost' their profile to increase visibility to others.

In the Wizz app settings, users can modify their recommendation preferences to include:

  • Users of the exact same age, or one year younger or older;

  • Users from the same country or state;

  • Users of the same gender, the opposite gender, or both.

These parameters are designed to ensure that Wizz users receive relevant suggestions tailored to their preferences for connecting with others based on location, age, and gender. Initially, all preferences are set to 'no preference' when a user first configures their account.

As an exception, if you join a community on the Wizz app, you can also have people recommended to you based on your shared interests.

“Boost” means that users pay an additional fee to appear first in users' recommendations.
