Wizz Updates: New Features Coming for College-Aged Students

More than five years ago, we created Wizz to be a safe space where people can build community, make new friends, and express themselves authentically. But as our users grow up, so do we.

Over the years, Wizz has evolved into a vibrant community of Gen Zers, many now college-aged students,  who use the app to share their stories, discover new people, and create real connections. To keep building the best experience for everyone, we’re rolling out new features designed specifically for our young adult users.

The first step in this process is updating our App Store age rating to 18+, in line with Apple’s guidelines for developers. These new features require new boundaries, and we’re also updating our Terms of Service to reflect that.

After several months of successful testing, these updates will begin rolling out in the coming weeks — bringing new ways to interact, express yourself, and enjoy the Wizz experience.

Expect to see new features specifically for our young adult users, including:

Some 18+ users are already beta-testing these features, and their feedback is guiding how we introduce them more broadly. (Thank you to all our amazing beta-testers!) While we evolve the product based on this feedback, we remain committed to upholding state-of-the-art safety systems, including age verification, that ensure Wizz continues to be a trusted and positive space for everyone. On Wizz, our app is structured around age-appropriate groups that adapt to each user’s age. This ensures that everyone enjoys a safe, relevant, and authentic experience.

Not only is our app growing up and introducing new experiences for Gen Z users, but our community is also expanding. Every day, nearly one million young people open Wizz to build friendships at a time when loneliness is on the rise worldwide.
