What Happens When You Report Someone on Wizz?

We’ve all been there: you’re having a great time, meeting new people, and suddenly someone ruins the vibe. Maybe they’re being mean, sharing something inappropriate, or just making you feel uncomfortable.

On Wizz, reporting isn’t just a "feedback button" that goes into a void. It’s a high-priority signal that triggers a multi-layered safety process designed to protect you and the rest of the community.

Here is exactly what happens behind the scenes the moment you hit that report button.

1. Instant Lockdown (We Freeze the Situation Fast)

As soon as you report a user or a specific message, our auto filter system and human safety team jump into action.

Real-Time Review: Our human safety team reviews reports within 24 hours. In fact, our specialized team of safety experts reviews around 7,000 reports every single day.

Feedback: If the team determines the report does contain a violation of our guidelines, this feedback is given to train our auto filter system to ensure that next time similar content is flagged and removed before anyone else has to see it.

2. We Check the Full Story (Not Just One Message)

Reporting isn't just about one bad word; it’s about keeping the community healthy. When a report comes in, we look at the bigger picture:

  • Pattern Check: Was this a one-time mistake or a pattern of bad behavior?

  • Proof: A reported user’s messages and user profile are included in the report. This helps our team make a "decisive action" much faster.

  • Verification Double-Check: We reference the reported user's verification data to ensure they haven't tried to bypass any verification systems.

3. What Happens Next (The Consequences)

Depending on what happened, Wizz takes one of several steps:

Warnings or Time OUt: For minor "first-time" slip-ups, a user might receive a warning or a time out "mute" (they can't send messages for a set time). Currently, about 27% of users have been muted at some point – it’s a way for them to learn the house rules.

  • Account Restrictions: The user may be limited in who they can talk to or how they can use the app.

  • Permanent Bans: For serious violations like hate speech, harassment, or sharing inappropriate media, we issue a Permanent Phone Ban.

What is a Permanent Phone Ban? We don’t just remove the account. We block the phone itself. No new account. No reset workaround. Done for good.

4.You Stay Anonymous (They’ll Never Know It Was You)

The most important part? The person you reported will never know it was you. Reporting is completely anonymous. Once you report and block someone, they vanish from your view, and they lose the ability to contact you. You can go back to enjoying Wizz without worrying about them popping up again.

5. Every Report Makes Wizz Smarter

Every report helps Wizz get smarter. We feed the data from blocked content back into our AI models so they can get better at catching "bad vibes" before they even reach a user’s inbox.

See Something? Report It.

Safety on Wizz is a team sport. By reporting behavior that doesn't belong, you aren't just protecting yourself – you’re protecting the thousands of other students who use Wizz to find confidence, connection, and growth.

Help us keep that confidence high. If you see something, say something.
