What Is Wizz App and How Does It Work?

Wizz App is a social discovery platform built for young adults. The short version: you verify your age, create a secured profile, discover people your age with shared interests, send a connection request, and — if they accept — have a real conversation.
The longer version: how verification works, what age-segmentation means, how the Request tab protects your inbox, and what makes Wizz App structurally different from other social platforms, is what this guide covers.
Step 1: Verification before anything else
The first thing that happens when you join Wizz App isn't profile setup. It's verification.
Wizz App uses Yoti's facial age estimation technology to confirm two things: that you're a real, live human being (not a bot, a photo, or a mask) and that your stated age is accurate. This is technology is applied to every account sign-up.
If the Yoti face scan doesn't match the stated age, you must provide a government-issued ID before proceeding. If the scan can't confirm liveness, such as if you're holding up a photo instead of your actual face, you can't complete sign-up. No workarounds.
After verification, your profile photo is checked against your verification selfie using AWS Machine Learning. If the faces don't match, the account isn't created. All verified profile photos are displayed first in a user’s profile.
Step 2: Profile setup
Once verified, you build your profile. This is where Wizz App differs from most social platforms from the very start.
There's no audience to build. No follower count to optimise for. Your profile isn't a content channel, it's a first impression for one person at a time. The bio you write is what someone reads before deciding whether to connect with you, and what you read before deciding whether to connect with them.
Wizz App encourages users to authentically express themselves in their bio: genuine interests, personality, what they're looking for in a community. Users who do this get better conversations. Users who leave their bio blank may find it harder to find community. The product rewards authenticity, not curation.
Step 3: Discovery: finding people your age
Wizz App's discovery is age-matched by design. You only see users within your age bracket, no exceptions.
You browse profiles, read bios, and look at profile photos. When someone’s profile resonates with you, you send them a message. That message goes into their Requests tab.
Discovery on Wizz App is interest-led — the more specific your bio, the more relevant the people you'll find. Users can filter by interests, making it straightforward to find people who are into the same music, sport, hobbies, or cultural references as you.
Step 4: The Request tab: your inbox, your terms
This is one of the features that most distinctly separates Wizz App from other social platforms.
When someone sends you a message on Wizz App, it doesn't go directly to your inbox. It goes to a separate Requests tab. You see it when you choose to. You read it privately. And then you decide: accept, or don't.
If you accept, the conversation moves to your main inbox. If you don't, it disappears. No obligation to explain. No awkward blocking. No notification to the sender that you've seen and ignored it.
This means every conversation in your Wizz App inbox is one you explicitly chose. The filtering happens before the conversation starts — not after you've already seen something you didn't want to see.
Step 5: Genuine conversation
Once a request is accepted, Wizz App is a real-time communication platform. Messages, images, reactions, the standard toolkit of modern messaging, designed around the kind of ongoing, low-stakes daily conversation that authentic connections are actually built through.
Every message is screened by Bodyguard before delivery, a real-time text moderation system that flags harmful language before it reaches you. Every image and video is checked by Cinder, an AI-driven content moderation platform, before it appears in your inbox.
The five questions Wizz App answers
Is it free? Yes. Wizz App is free to download and use. Wizz Coins and Wizz Infinity offer optional premium features.
Who can I talk to? Only users within your verified age bracket. The age communities are structurally enforced, not optional settings. All users are age-verified at sign up.
Can anyone message me? No. Every incoming message goes to your Requests tab first. You approve every conversation.
Is it safe? Yes. Profile verification, age-separated communities, pre-delivery content moderation, and a consent-first inbox design make Wizz App the most safety-forward social platform available.
What countries is it available in? Wizz App is available globally, with large user communities in the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Italy, Spain, Japan, and 15+ other countries.
