Wizz is a social discovery app that allows users to make new connections and interact with other people ("Wizz App"). This policy explains why and how Wizz ("Wizz", "we", "our", or "us") processes your personal data when you use the Wizz App.
We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Wizz App. We encourage minors (users under 18) to review this policy with a trusted adult to ensure it is fully understood.
For any questions regarding your privacy, please contact us at legal@wizzapp.com.
How do we process your data?
When you create an account and use the Wizz App, we collect and process information to ensure the performance and safety of the service, improve your experience, and support our business model through advertising.
1.1 Why and on what legal grounds do we process your data?
Wizz processes different categories of personal data. Some data directly identifies you (such as your selfie used for age verification), while other data is only indirectly identifiable (such as device identifiers or IP addresses).
The following table explains why we process your data, the categories of personal data involved, and the legal grounds for doing so:
1.2. Who do we share your data with?
To provide you with the best possible service and to ensure safety, we work with trusted third-party partners who maintain high standards of data protection. Your information may be shared with the following categories of recipients:
Age Verification Partners: Specialised third-party providers process your selfie solely to estimate your age. These providers process the selfie on their secure servers, return an estimated age result, and delete the selfie immediately after estimation. They do not retain biometric data or link your selfie to other personal information.
Content Moderation Partners: Third-party providers moderate written content before delivery and media content in real time. A dedicated moderation team supports manual review of reported content and profiles.
Advertising Partners: We work with advertising networks and mediation platforms to display advertisements and monetise the Wizz App. These partners typically collect data via their own SDKs and act as independent data controllers for their subsequent processing. An up-to-date list of our advertising partners, together with their respective privacy policies, is available here.
Analytics Partners: We use analytics tools to understand user behavior, resolve issues, and improve the Wizz App. An up-to-date list of our analytics partners, together with their respective privacy policies, is available here.
Service Providers: Technical partners providing infrastructure, hosting, database management, and support services.
Affiliates: Companies owned by or under common ownership as Wizz, which will process your data in accordance with this policy.
Official Authorities: We may share data with legal or regulatory authorities when required to comply with our legal obligations or to protect user safety.
Corporate Transactions: Your data may be disclosed in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.
1.3. How long do we keep your data?
We retain your personal data only for as long as strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy:
2. How is your data protected when transferred outside the European Union?
Some of our partners and service providers may be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, including in the United States.
In such cases, any transfer of personal data is carried out in strict compliance with applicable data protection laws. We ensure that such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards, including:
An adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission;
The Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission, supplemented where necessary by additional technical, organisational, and contractual measures;
Certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the recipient is duly certified;
Other appropriate safeguards provided under applicable data protection laws.
If you wish to enquire further about these safeguards, please contact us at legal@wizzapp.com.
3. Our commitment to protecting minors
The Wizz App is not directed at persons under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
3.1. Age Estimation and Age Verification
Upon account creation, we perform a two-phase process:
Phase 1: Age Estimation: You are asked to take a selfie. This selfie is processed by a specialised third-party provider to estimate your age and verify its consistency with the age you declared. The provider processes the selfie on its secure servers, returns an estimated age result, and deletes the selfie immediately after estimation. Wizz retains a copy of your selfie solely for account verification purposes and never uses it for any other purpose. This processing is based on our legal obligation to verify the age of our users.
Phase 2: Age Verification (if required): Where the age estimation does not allow us to confirm your age with reasonable certainty, you may be asked to undergo a biometric verification. This involves providing a photo of your identity document, which is then compared to the biometric data extracted from your selfie. This biometric processing is only carried out with your explicit consent. If you do not consent, you will not be able to complete the account creation process.
Users are then classified by age cluster and matched only with users of an appropriate age.
3.2. Content Moderation
All written content sent through the Wizz App is moderated before delivery using automated moderation tools. Media content is moderated by a specialised content moderation provider. A dedicated moderation team reviews reported conversations and profiles.
3.3. Advertising Standards
All advertisements displayed to users, including minors, are required to be suitable for a young audience. Prohibited ad categories include: alcohol and tobacco, dating, drugs and supplements, gambling and betting, politics, religion, sexual content, significant skin exposure, weight loss, cosmetic procedures, and other categories detailed in our advertising guidelines.
3.4. User Reporting
Users can report any content, behavior, or advertisement that is inappropriate or violates our Terms And Conditions. Wizz analyzes each report using a trust index system and takes appropriate action, including banning offending users.
4. What are your rights and how can you exercise them?
4.1. Who can you contact regarding your privacy?
For any questions or to exercise a right, please contact us at legal@wizzapp.com.
4.2. What are your rights in Europe and the UK?

Right to Rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data (gender, email, age can be updated directly in your settings).

Right to Object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time.
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time via the application settings. Please note that withdrawal of consent leads to the deletion of your account, as certain data processing is essential for the safe operation of the service.
Automated Decision-Making: You have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you.
Post-mortem Rights (France): You can define directives regarding your data after your death.
Right to Lodge a Complaint: You can lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g., the CNIL in France or the authority in your country of residence).

Right to Delete: You can request deletion of personal data we have collected, subject to certain exceptions.
Right to Correct: You can request correction of inaccurate information.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not "sell" your personal data in the traditional sense. However, using advertising partners to display targeted ads may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under certain state laws. You can exercise this right by managing your preferences in the settings of the Wizz App or by enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" in your device settings.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

We will respond to any request within one month. If the complexity or volume of requests requires it, we may extend this period by up to two additional months, with prior notice.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you via email or through the Wizz App. Changes are effective when posted.
