Ages and Communities on Wizz App
Wizz App is open to users aged 16 and older. Every user on the platform, regardless of age, must complete age verification before they can connect with anyone.
Wizz App is a platform built around age-appropriate communities. Once a user is verified, they are placed into an age group that determines who they can see and speak to. A 16-year-old connects only with peers their age or one year older.
Users aged 18 and over are placed in a separate adult community. These communities are completely separate from each other. An adult account cannot find, view, or contact anyone under 18.
How We Verify Age on Wizz App
Age verification on Wizz App happens in steps, and each one must be completed before a user can access the platform.
Date of birth: Every new user enters their date of birth at sign-up. This tells Wizz App which age community the user belongs to and sets the rules that apply to their account.
Live facial age estimation with Yoti: Every user then completes a live face scan powered by Yoti. Yoti's technology estimates the user's age from the scan with greater than 99.9% accuracy. This is a live scan taken within the app, which means a real person must be present. Photos, videos, masks, and AI-generated images all fail the check. If the age Yoti estimates matches the date of birth provided, the user can continue. Any mismatch requires additional government ID verification. No access to the platform is granted while this step is pending. No user can create an account without successfully completing our age verification process.
Ongoing verification: Every time a user switches to a new device, they complete the full process again. Wizz App also monitors for discrepancies in age information across profiles and interactions throughout the account lifecycle. If a potential mismatch is detected, the account is frozen until verification is completed.
how we verify Identities on Wizz app
Beyond age verification, Wizz App also employs additional identity verification methods:
Identity consistency checks: We monitor for any discrepancies in information at signup, within user profiles, or during interactions on the Wizz App. Any users suspected of identity misrepresentation are restricted and banned.
100% verified profiles: All images on the platform are being verified with AWS Machine Learning. This requires that every user's first profile photo must match the face of their age verification photo. This ensures users are authentic and creates a safe environment.
Why Wizz App Requires Government Identity Verification
When Yoti's facial age estimation detects a difference between the age a user declares and the age it estimates from their face scan, Wizz App requires that user to verify their age with a government-issued ID before they can proceed. Passports, national IDs, and driving licenses are all accepted. No access to the platform is granted while this step is pending.
Users who are unable or unwilling to complete this step are not permitted to access the platform.

Does Wizz App have an age restriction?
You need to be older than 16 to be able to create an account on Wizz App. We place our users into strict age groups with the maximum difference of age being one year. Users can only communicate with other users in the same age group. People who are 18-24 are placed in a broader age bucket.

What is Yoti Facial Age Estimation?
Wizz App partners with Yoti for age estimation. Required for all users, this check uses your selfie to estimate your age.
During onboarding, all users are asked to take a selfie with the device's camera, which is then analyzed by Yoti’s age-estimation technology. This age estimation confirms whether users are over or under the required age. We also compare this age with a user-entered age for age verification, ensuring that all users are placed in the correct age bucket.
Yoti’s Facial Age Estimation process also includes liveness detection to ensure the selfie is of a real person and not a 2D image, mask, or bot.
How is my data handled by Yoti?
All users must complete Yoti’s Facial Age Estimation process to create an account on Wizz App. During this process, Yoti deletes the selfie image as soon as an age estimate is given. For safety reasons, Wizz App keeps a copy of the face image as described in the Privacy Policy.
