Not every unwanted notification needs a block or a report. Sometimes you just want quiet — a chat that's gone stale, a conversation that's a little too active, or someone you're not ready to reply to yet. That's what muting is for.

Muting a conversation on Wizz App turns off notifications for that specific chat, without removing the person from your inbox and without them knowing anything changed.

How to mute someone on Wizz App, step by step

  1. Open the conversation you want to mute.

  2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the chat.

  3. Tap Mute 🔕.

  4. Choose how long you want to mute the conversation for.

The conversation stays in your inbox exactly as it was — you just won't get pinged every time a new message comes in.

What muting does (and doesn't do)

Muting is the lightest-touch control Wizz App gives you over your inbox:

  • It does stop notifications for that one conversation, for the time period you choose.

  • It doesn't block the person from messaging you.

  • It doesn't remove the conversation from your inbox.

  • It doesn't notify the other person in any way.

If you want to stop someone from contacting you entirely, blocking is the right tool. If you're seeing content or behavior that breaks our Community Guidelines, reporting puts it in front of our safety team. Muting is simply for managing your own attention.

Why Wizz App gives you this level of control

Wizz App is designed around real conversation, and that only works if you feel in control of your own inbox. Every message that reaches you has already passed through Bodyguard, our real-time message screening system, and every image or video has been checked by Cinder, our AI-driven content moderation partner, before it's ever delivered. On top of that, every user on Wizz App is age verified through Yoti and placed into an age-gated community with people close to their own age.

Muting sits on top of all of that infrastructure — it's not a safety feature in the same sense as reporting or blocking, but it's part of the same philosophy: you should always have control over what your inbox looks and sounds like.

Can I unmute a conversation?

Yes. When the mute period you selected ends, notifications will automatically resume. You can also mute a conversation for a new period at any time using the same steps above.
