Age assurance starts before account creation: All users must complete age verification with Yoti's advanced age estimation technology and date-of-birth checks. If needed, we also request ID verification to prevent age misrepresentation.

Robust identity verification
100% verified profiles: All images on the platform are being verified with AWS Machine Learning. This requires that every user's first profile photo must match the face of their age verification photo. This ensures users are authentic and creates a safe environment.
Identity Consistency Checks: We monitor for any discrepancies in age information at signup, within user profiles, or during interactions on the Wizz app. Any users suspected of identity misrepresentation are restricted and banned.

Is the Wizz app safe?
Yes. Wizz is built around one idea: young adults should be able to make friends online without having to worry about who they are talking to. Every user on the platform is age-verified before they can interact with anyone, all content is reviewed before it is posted, and users are only ever connected with peers their own age. 86% of Wizz users say they feel safe meeting new people on the platform, and we dedicate 50% of our operating costs to keeping it that way.
How does Wizz App protect young people from bad actors?
Wizz App uses multiple layers of protection working together to keep young people safe. Every message is scanned for grooming language, attempts to share personal information, and links to other platforms before it reaches the recipient. If something harmful is detected, it is blocked automatically. Users can also report any profile or message at any time.
Do you have to be verified on Wizz?
Yes, every user on Wizz is verified before they can talk to anyone. Verification happens in two ways. First, we confirm that users are the age they say they are, using facial age estimation technology from Yoti, which has a greater than 99.9% accuracy rate, and government ID when needed. Second, we confirm that the person using the app is the same person who signed up, using AWS Rekognition to match every profile photo to the original sign-up selfie. Only verified photos can appear on a profile.
Why was Wizz removed from the app stores?
In early 2024, Wizz App was temporarily removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for safety reviews. Wizz App worked with both teams and was reinstated after meeting their safety standards.
Since then, Wizz App has made significant changes. The minimum age was raised to 16, and ID verification was introduced for any user where an age mismatch is detected. Text and visual moderation were expanded through new partnerships with Bodyguard.ai and Cinder. CSAM detection now runs against Thorn's Safer platform and the Internet Watch Foundation database, with every confirmed case reported directly to NCMEC. In 2025, 99.28% of harmful content was proactively removed before any user reported it.
Wizz App joined the Tech Coalition, was independently audited by the UK Information Commissioner's Office, and publishes a full DSA Transparency Report every year so anyone can see exactly how the platform operates.
