Proactive Moderation on Wizz App

Moderation is how Wizz App makes sure the platform stays safe and respectful for everyone using it. It is the process of reviewing content, whether a message, a photo, or a profile, and removing anything that breaks the rules before it can affect someone else.

Proactive moderation on Wizz App combines automated technology and real human reviewers working together. Automated systems handle the volume, scanning billions of messages and millions of images every year, even before they get delivered. Human moderators handle the cases that need judgment, context, and care.

How Moderation Works On Wizz App

Wizz App uses automated moderation technology to scan all content before it goes live on the platform. This is called pre-moderation, and it means harmful content is blocked before it is ever shared rather than removed after another user saw it.

Text content, including messages, usernames, and bios, is scanned in real time by Bodyguard.ai's classifiers across more than 70 categories, including harassment, grooming language, hate speech, and attempts to share personal information.

Visual content, including photos and videos, is scanned by Cinder before it can be seen by anyone. Wizz App does not allow live video or live voice features, which removes an entire category of moderation risk.

If content is flagged as a violation, it is removed automatically before reaching its intended recipient.

What Wizz App Does Not Allow

Every user reads and agrees to Wizz App's Community Guidelines when they create an account.

Content that is not allowed on Wizz App includes Sexual content and nudity, bullying and harassment, hate speech and discrimination, violence, drug-related content, sharing of personal information such as phone numbers and social media handles, and any content that exploits or endangers minors.

For the most serious category of content, child sexual abuse material, Wizz App uses Thorn's Safer platform and the Internet Watch Foundation hash database to detect and block it before it reaches anyone, and every confirmed case is reported directly to NCMEC.

Reporting Inappropriate Content on Wizz App

Any user can report any message, profile, or piece of content at any time, regardless of whether they are connected to that person. Reports are reviewed by a trained moderation team within 24 hours. Reports involving users under 18 are prioritized.

What Happens When Someone Breaks The Rules on Wizz App

Wizz App applies enforcement based on the severity and frequency of a violation. A user may receive a warning, a temporary restriction lasting anywhere from half a day to two weeks, or a permanent ban. Permanent bans are enforced at the device level, meaning the device itself is blocked from creating any new Wizz App account, even after a full factory reset.

Users in Europe can appeal a moderation decision under the Digital Services Act (DSA). They can submit their appeal through a designated form indicated in the Statement of Reasons.

How does content pre-moderation work?

All content is moderated before it is shared on the Wizz app, not after it is posted like other social networks. This means that when a user sends a message or updates their profile, it is first analyzed by our automatic moderation partners Bodyguard and Cinder. Our partners use sophisticated algorithms to determine whether the content violates our guidelines, such as including nudity or drug content.

Safe content: If content does not violate our guidelines, then the content is approved to be shared on Wizz app (through messages or profile).

Violating content: If content violates our guidelines, it is removed before being sent or uploaded on Wizz. This means that the targeted recipient(s) never receives the harmful content.

Consequences for violating content guidelines differ based on severity and frequency of user violations. Each user’s behavior is monitored through advanced moderation processes, ensuring that users receive the appropriate consequences for failing to adhere to Wizz community guidelines.

At Wizz, we strive to maintain a respectful and safe environment for all users.
