About wizz

Wizz is a place where young people can safely and authentically engage in real-time conversations with peers from around the globe.

Since 2019, the Wizz team, based in Paris, France, has been on a mission to combat loneliness by revolutionizing social interaction, providing a space free from the pressures of likes and follower counts. Young people have been making new friends online for years and we designed the Wizz app to provide the safest online setting for them to do so.

wizz safety strategy

At Wizz, safety is our single highest priority and serves as the foundation for everything we do. As a top destination for young people to connect online, we're dedicated to continually enhancing our Wizz safety measures to meet the demands of the dynamic online landscape:

  • Every user on Wizz is verified through sophisticated AI safety algorithms developed by Yoti, a company trusted by the UK Home Office and NHS, which scans the face of every user during sign-up to estimate their age.

  • In the Wizz app, users only engage with peers in their age bracket, and all content is moderated.

  • Wizz users are encouraged to report unwanted content on the Wizz app, and our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours, proactively overseeing activities and addressing guideline breaches with real-time notifications to promote positive behavior.

  • We also prevent those who break the Wizz app rules from coming back: we keep track of the devices we ban and prevent them from re-registering, even if they are reformatted.

international preservation requests

We honor data preservation requests from law enforcement agencies. Preservation requests refer to holding data securely without disclosure. When we receive such a request, we will attempt to preserve the specified account data.

Data preservation requests from non-French law enforcement authorities must follow our outlined process and guidelines, and include the relevant account information. Such requests require a valid legal order, such as one issued under a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), European Investigation Order (EIO), or letter rogatory process.

Data is preserved for a limited time and deleted if no formal request follows. Based on the jurisdiction, a new request may be required to preserve the data.

International data communication requests

Data communication requests from non-French law enforcement authorities must be submitted via the appropriate judicial cooperation process (e.g., EIO within the EU, MLAT for non-EU countries, or letter rogatory where applicable).

  • To demonstrate this, requests should include official judicial documentation issued by a competent authority for the relevant process.

  • Requests must also follow our above information requirement and process guidelines.
